Thesis of Purpose
Mountain View Christian Counseling Services is a ministry of Wilton Baptist Church and exists to evaluate, educate, and equip individuals and families who desire and value Bible based relationships, ethics, and principles that can be applied in everyday living. Between every mountain top is a valley. Our counseling ministry will follow David’s pattern for victory over circumstances and personal choices as found in Psalm 30. Our key verse is Psalm 30:7 which states:
“LORD, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.” While looking toward the mountaintop, we desire to obtain a right perspective for daily living.
Statement of Program
Identify: There are many needs today: addictions, relationship struggles, hate, unforgiveness, and bitterness that can consume an individual’s mind. Our first goal is to identify the source of the struggle. Testing, recounting the past, asking questions and focusing on the main topic can help determine this. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Introduce: The solution for all of our emotional, spiritual, and relationship needs is found in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. The most important objective therefore of our counseling shall be to introduce individuals and families to Jesus Christ. The Holy Scripture and Holy Spirit can change their lives today. (Colossians 1:20)
Instruct: The “fear of the Lord is the beginning” of wisdom and understanding. (Proverbs 9:10, 15:33) Utilizing the Word of God and using Truth based resources; we shall give Biblical instruction relevant to the client’s needs.
Invest: We purpose to invest in those seeking truth; families, couples, parents, teens, and children. Clients dealing with abuse, addictions, depression, doubt, or purpose, can all be offered hope and help from God’s Word. Peace and Joy are available to all. (Romans 15:13)
Instill: Through Bible instruction, homework, reading, DVD’s, audio disks, internet testing, and Bible memorization we hope to instill the skills, personal discipline, and daily patterns that are needed for emotional and spiritual victory. (Psalm 119:11)
Inform: Through Word of mouth and the ministry of our local church, people will know about our counseling services. We also have an informational section on our church website.
